Directors statement:
The Seeker is a deeply personal film born from a period of emotional upheaval in my own life. Writing this story became a way to explore the complex effects unresolved trauma has on an individual and the ripple effects it has on relationships.

Harriet’s journey in the film serves as a metaphor for therapy itself: a confrontation with buried memories and the pain of healing. This emotional process influenced the visual language of the film, manifesting in a red, nightmarish world that represents the evolving and often distorted nature of memory.

Although The Seeker is rooted in personal reflection, I was acutely aware of the responsibility that comes with portraying trauma, particularly that stemming from abuse—an experience I have not personally endured. To ensure the film was authentic and respectful, I sought out the perspectives and insights of abuse survivors during development. Their generosity and honesty were instrumental in shaping the film’s emotional core.

While the film does not shy away from discomfort, I hope its ultimate message resonates with viewers: that confronting trauma, however painful, is essential for healing and the rebuilding of healthy relationships.

An inspiring tale about friendship, sacrifice and conquering the impossible.

Le Gouffre is the first animated short film produced and directed by Lightning Boy Studio, a young creative team based in Montreal. The film tells the story of two spirited travelers who come across an incredibly wide chasm on their journey and decide to build a bridge to cross it. Released in February 2015, the project had first gained a lot of attention following the huge success of its Kickstarter campaign, which allowed the creators to finance the movie's post-production. Many were impressed by the passion and determination of the small team of three animators, who spent more than two full years creating the 10-minute film.

As of now, Le Gouffre has been selected in more than 60 festivals around the world and won nine awards, four of them for "Best Animated Short".

This is a fantastic tale of the pure of heart overcoming bigotry. Anyone who's experienced, sexism, racism, ageism, political or religious persecution will relate to this story. A character who's passion is unlike the people who he grew up around, discovers a place he can be himself, but faces enormous obstacles to get there. Along the way he exposes the futility of the other character's bigotry and bias and puts it all in perspective so that they can finally deal with the bigger issues in life.

This universal tale symbolizes the true unity of the human race. Despite racism, sexism, and every other form of bigotry, we are all on this rock together. The current political and social climate makes this the perfect time for this story to strike a chord with viewers, push them to take stock of their worldview, and take positive action.

The Wrong Rock won Best Animated Short at Burbank & Davis International Film Festivals in 2019 Director, Michael Cawood, is now a two-time winner of the Burbank International Film Festival in the Animated Short Category.

The Wrong Rock is an indie film made entirely through the virtual studio model (work from home). Hundreds of artists from all over the world worked from home collaborating online with the Artella platform. Lead by Michael Cawood, the team created the 3D CGI animation in Maya and rendered it with Redshift. Some of Cawood’s previous credits include Dawn of the Planet of the Apes, Pete’s Dragon, Bumblebee, The Lego Ninjago Movie, and Happy Feet. Cawood’s other short film, Devils, Angels & Dating, has garnered Millions of views on YouTube views.

The soundtrack includes an original song created by the band, The Mrs., and a score by BAFTA award-nominated composer Grant Kirkhope, whose credits include iconic video games such as Donkey Kong Country, Golden Eye, Banjo Kazooie, and Mario-Rabbids. The film tells the story of a boy who rather spends his time indoors playing videogames instead of discovering what’s waiting outside. One day his Mum decides to get a little surprise for her son, which makes it hard for him to concentrate on his video game any longer.

After a very successful festival circuit, running on over 180 film festivals and winning more than 50 awards, we’ve decided that it’s finally time to share “The Present” with the rest of the world.
“The Present” is a thesis short from the Institute of Animation, Visual Effects and Digital Postproduction at the Filmakademie Baden-Wuerttemberg in Ludwigsburg, Germany.
We really hope you enjoy the result of our hard work. Thanks to everyone who help creating this film and everyone who supported us during the festivals. Thanks a lot for making this such an incredible journey. “The Present” is based on a great little comic strip by the very talented Fabio Coala.

Synopsis:
In the market, Gayatri hears about the death of her neighbour’s husband. Apparently, the Renowned Priest has instructed every woman to borrow money from another woman and offer Prasad (offering) to God, to stay safe in this bad time. She brushes it off.
Gayatri’s son suddenly falls sick. His health keeps deteriorating. She borrows money from her employ-er and completes the ritual. But there is no improvement in his health. As a last resort she goes to meet the Renowned Priest who instructs her to carry out a very risky task. She does the necessary and it leads her into a completely unexpected situation, putting her own life and her employer’s into a spin.

But will he be happy when peace and order finally restores?

I wrote, directed and animated this film on my own.
Character animation was done in Spine2D, background in Adobe Photoshop, compositing in Adobe After Effects.

Music was done by amazing composer Lauryn Vania Kurniawan, funds raised by Kickstarter.

A clumsy accident leads a young girl to the streets of Mumbai in the hope of making things right from Indian animators, Studio Eeksaurus.

While a relatively simple story, grounded in the lived experience of India's destitute, Tokri overflows with detail. The scale of the production is truly remarkable—we adore stop-motion, with over 100 films in our collection, but despite the overwhelming diversity of subjects and styles you'll encounter while traversing the catalog there are a few commonalities to the majority of them: tight compositions, confined spaces, relatively few characters. These decisions are often right for the story, but they are also a compromise to the pain-staking nature of the craft, an attempt to reduce complexity within scenes. An unusual degree of motion abounds within even simple scenes in Tokri, and Eriyat and his team are unafraid of going wide as well, in shots that seek to depict the cacophony of the Mumbai streetscape and which encompass dozens of moving elements. We always love a good stop-motion timelapse, and the video below gives you a good sense of the undertaking.
